What’s a meeting like?
Chameleons is a social and support group, so we’re here for each other and to have some fun too. We don’t sit in a circle and confess our sins. Instead, tables and chairs are put out, and people pull up a seat and chat with friends. We’re a welcoming group and all we ask that you treat others with respect. We’ve an on-site kitchen, so you can help yourself to a hot drink or a biscuit.
Other than these regular social nights, we also have discussions, visits from vendors, or we may throw a party a few times a year. Social nights take place in the main room, and any special events – like themed discussions, vendor visits, etc – take place in the bar area.
In addition to running our own yearly make-over evening (aka Start Up nights), we’ve had visits from Boots, Avon, Bodyshop and many others. We have a great relationship with TrendCo, who are a local wig specialist and they bring their expertise and stock a few times a year.
For party nights, we split the session keeping the tables & chat in one room, and set up a disco in the other. Party nights are a team effort and everyone brings something in to share.
Can anyone meet me?
We understand that coming to a new group can be intimidating, but please don’t let this put you off. If you’d like someone to meet you on arrival, you can contact us here. Alternatively, please ask for Pat, Diane, or Lynn. They can say hi, get you sat down, and make you feel welcome.
When & Where
Our meetings are every second and fourth Thursday of each month and we meet in a private, out-of-town community centre in Nuthall: The Temple Centre. We open at around 8pm and the evening runs until 11pm.
There is ample off-street parking at the Centre and we have changing facilities upstairs, should you need them. After 8.30pm, there is no one else at the Centre except Chameleons, so you will be well away from the public.
Your first visit is free, so you can decide if the group is for you or not. Then, it’s either £8 or £10 per meeting (you can pick). Partners or allies, pay £2.
